Over the years, technical and technological innovations have developed. Among the many digital innovations that have taken place is digital photography. Digital photography also arose due to the need to transmit images taken by artificial satellites over a very long distance. In order to create photos with an ever higher quality, photography continued its development.
The first digital camera
As early as 1975, Steven Sasson, started working on the first digital camera. A revolutionary invention. The digital camera had and still has the purpose of going beyond film, so this new camera digitises the images just taken. The digitisation process was short. However, it took many more years to bring these new cameras onto the market. Digital cameras have continued to develop and improve over the years.

With the innovation of digital photography, you have the possibility to see photos on a display immediately after they have been taken. There have also been improvements from an economic point of view. You have the possibility to put the photos you have taken on a computer without the expense of film. By putting the photos taken on the computer, you can choose which ones you want to print and avoid having bad photos printed. You also save money because with the initial expense of buying a camera, you can get more photos.
Various models
Over the years, the development of digital cameras has led to the creation of numerous cameras. In 1991, Kodak introduced the first digital SLR and the following year another new model that differed from the previous one in the presence of the hard disk. In 1995, the first digital SLRs for professional photographers were introduced. Leica made further improvements in 1996 with 26 megapixel cameras. And in 2006 it brought the first digital rangefinder camera to the market. Prices also changed. In 2003, Canon also made its Digital Reflex system more accessible to the public.
The use of memory cards has led to further changes in cameras. These cards have an ever-increasing memory capacity and allow more and more content to be stored. In addition, cameras no longer only have the purpose of taking photographs, but now provide the possibility of taking videos. Digital technology has made it possible to bring new and updated models onto the market. These models are growing all the time.
Photography and smartphones

The development of new digital techniques and technologies has led to a new way of taking photographs, namely through the smartphone. So you can increasingly use a smartphone to take pictures. New technologies have made it possible to create smartphones that are more and more like cameras. This has also made it possible to take photographs without having to carry the necessary equipment, which can be large and heavy.
The smartphone has changed people’s relationship with images, democratised and massified the act of producing images. With the smartphone you have the possibility to get closer to the vision that the human eye has, so the camera becomes more and more immediate. The smartphone is another tool that has made it possible to focus images better and make better use of light. These tools have led to improvements in a very short time. The goal that everyone is waiting for suggests that we will get closer and closer to the vision of the human eye, which is adaptive and has a very wide vision.
